Isle of Hope School Names New Leaders

Dr. Lawrence Butler, Principal and Dr. John Sutlive, Assistant Principal.

Isle of Hope School recently named Dr. Lawrence Butler, Principal and Dr. John Sutlive, Assistant Principal. Dr. Butler and Dr. Sutlive are moving from the same positions at Hesse School.

The leaders have a combined 50-plus years of experience in education—in both the classroom and administration—that makes them a strong team of educators. They were eager to talk to us about their goals for the school. One of their first goals is to work with the community and listen to all stake holders. In fact, they want the IOH community to understand they expect to hear your hopes and concerns for the school.

Dr. Butler and Dr. Sutlive said they are excited to have a strong faculty and staff for the coming year. Like Dr. Sutlive, many IOH staff members live on Isle of Hope or in the surrounding areas served by the school. Additionally, Dr. Sutlive has family members attending the school.

Both administrators stressed that a part of their vision was to promote the school curriculum—especially the accelerated middle school coursework and the gifted program by focusing resources that will equip IOH teachers to receive gifted certification and training. Also, they hope to plan and help with community events and tours of the building. They’d love to meet you and are excited to continue to work with the families of Isle of Hope and the traditions of the Isle of Hope Community.

You can reach them at Lawrence.butler@sccpss.com and John.Sutlive@sccpss.com. Feel free to contact them with your comments, questions, and concerns and give them a warm Isle of Hope welcome!
