1) How long have You been in business?
4 months
2) Why did you choose this business?
What’s for Dinner allows us to share our love of cooking while providing a much-needed service for busy families. Many of our customers tell us they have cooked for decades! They are tired and enjoy the break that What’s for Dinner provides.
3) How did you get started?
Our business started as a way for me (Leigh) to earn extra money as a stay-at-home/homeschooling mom. We have a severely disabled son and are constantly concerned about providing for him as he ages.
4) What was your biggest break?
Our biggest break was finding an amazing space in Sandfly! Amber Lair pointed us to a soon-to-be vacant spot in her father’s (Charlie Lair) shopping center.
5) Why did you choose the IOH Area?
The IOH Area is a perfect fit for us!The difference here is community and support. Our neighbors in IOH simply could not be more supportive. We love visiting with and getting to know our neighbors. We welcome suggestions on recipes, business advice, and time spent getting to know our customers.
6) What is your favorite part of the IOH community?
IOH is unique in this day and time. People know their neighbors here. They are certainly busy people, but they never fail to stop and chat.
7) What is your favorite part of your day?
Early morning is great. We are preparing dinners for the day ahead, spending time with one another and easing into our day. Afternoon is when our customers start streaming into the store. It is so fun to see our regulars and meet new customers. It feels very festive!
8) What’s Hot in your business now?
We’ve recently introduced a Quiche of the Week. We’ve been hard-pressed to keep them in stock. Smoked Gouda Pimento Cheese and Chicken Salad re-main hot sellers. Last week there was a lot of buzz about our Chicken Thighs with honey and five spice.
9) Anything you’d like to say to the IOH area community?
We are so grateful for the support and well wishes we have received! Being here feels like being home to us.
10) Any Special Promotions going on right now?
Half-sized dinners feed 2-3 people and are $15. Full sized dinners feed 4-6 people and are $30. Quiche is always $15.
11) What makes your business special, unique, or different?
We give families something they desperately need — time. Time not-spent in the kitchen allows families time together, around the table, connecting with one another. Yet, at the same time, we are not a take-out restaurant. Heating dinners in your own oven allows the home to fill with the delicious aroma of a home-cooked meal. Our customers know who is making their meals and feel comfortable letting us know their likes and dislikes. We don’t have display cases because we want to get to know our customers so that we are better able to provide meals they will enjoy.
