Monthly Satsang

February 21, 2018 - 7:15 pm

Savannah

Join us for a monthly gathering to discuss and reflect on the ethical principles of yoga.

We will use The Yamas and Niyamas by Deborah Adele as our guide. Each month, one of our SPY teachers will lead the discussion and help us reflect on, discuss and assimilate their meaning into our 21st century lives. These gatherings are intended to be a dialog and an inquiry into how we can align ourselves with these principles and bring them into our thoughts and actions.

The 5 Yamas include:

Ahimsa – non-violence (February 21)
Satya – truthfulness (March 21)
Asteya – non-stealing (April 18)
Brahmacharya – moderation in all things (May 16)
Aparigraha – non-covetousness (June 20)

The 5 Niyamas include:

Saucha – purity i.e. internal and external cleanliness (July 18)
Santosha – contentment (August 15)
Tapas – austerity; discipline (September 19)
Swadhyaya – study of the sacred texts (October 17)
Ishwara Pranidhana – constantly living with an awareness of the divine Presence (November 14)
